The minister at my church once told me “Worry is a form of prayer and the form most people practice often.” I’m sure he didn’t mean to be negative, but he wanted me to realize what people focus on is what they bring about. Worry is fear. Worry is a state of mind which is often brought on my indecision. Everything in life begins with an idea. What worry does is take that idea, apply our imagination to it, and make it into something far bigger than what it really is. In other words, we turn our potholes into canyons! If we have an idea something will go wrong, you can bet it will. Stop worrying about things and get on with your life. What is happening right now? Make a decision to give up the “what if’s”. Know that we can’t fix something that might happen. We can only fix what is happening or has happened. And often, even if we can’t fix it, it happened for a reason. Might not look like it right now, but ultimately things will work out for the best. If you remember this, it will bring you peace of mind, calmness, and power. You will be able to think more rationally when you are at peace.
Are you willing to give up worry?
