I was working with one of my coaching clients this week, when she said, “I have no self-confidence?” I asked her what that meant and she said, “I don’t believe I can do things.” “Like what?” I asked. “Like winning a beauty contest.” Why didn’t she believe she could? Because she’s been programming her mind that she doesn’t have any confidence. You see, anyone can do just about anything if they have enough time to learn how, practice, get experience, have the right resources, etc. Self-confidence is a person’s belief in her abilities. So I asked her to look at herself. She’s pretty, has a nice body, good teeth, an electrifying smile, beautiful hair, and she’s smart…what else does she need? She needs to stand and walk as though she believes in herself. Can that be learned? Of course! Can I teach it to her? Yes. I taught modeling for 20 years. If anyone knows how to stand, walk, and sit with confidence, it’s me. Have I taught it to others? Hundreds. And many of them have won beauty contests! I know this one will be able to do it as well.
