If we want to change the future, we must change what we are doing in the present. Eliminate old habits that don’t produce meaningful results and do the things that will lead to a better tomorrow. Instead of playing the role of spectators in our own lives, we must take charge by participating purposely and deliberately. One of our biggest challenges is making changes that allow us to accomplish what is important to us.
Because it takes at least 21 days to change a habit, it is important to document the date when you decide to make a change and why it is that you want to make it. Write in your journal each day, noting what you did that day to effect a desired change, what difficulties you encountered, and what you could do to overcome them. Most importantly, be sure to include your successes.
Proper planning and working through obstacles will enable each of us to make Walt Disney’s words come true: “If we can dream it, we can do it.”
