Dear
,
It’s been a phenomenal spring. The weather in Las Vegas has been beautiful and things are going so well. We have moved into our new offices at
4680 Polaris, Suite #250
Las Vegas, Nevada 89106
The phone numbers have remained the same. Charlotte and I are both appreciating having more room and being in such pleasant surroundings.
My new book, “You Are More Than Enough” came out…as you know….and it is doing very, very well in the marketplace. It is now in its second printing. The companion journal is in production and promises to be very beautiful. I can’t wait for you all to get your copies. Using the journal will make it so much easier to set and track your goals. We are almost finished recording the 12 CD audio book. It will be going for reproduction the end of this month.
In addition, we’ve had wonderful speaking bookings lately with Hoffman-LaRoche, Pacific Northwest National Laboratories, the Torrance Metropolitan Transit Authority, Capital One, and Diamond Star Events.
The secret to getting what you want is to believe it is possible! And remember, it’s all possible......if you are willing to give up the fear!

Professionalism by Design –
The art of success in any field |
|
Becoming a professional isn’t just a matter of learning all of the technical aspects of your job. You determine whether you are a professional or not by how you look, talk, write, act and work. Many businesses have come to accept less than professional performance from their team members. Casual dress and casual attitudes have lead to casual performance.
So what is a professional? A professional is someone who communicates and interacts effectively with everyone. Self motivated and confident, the professional maintains a positive attitude and understands the importance of appearance and presentation. Focused and clear headed, a professional tackles difficult assignments with confidence and skill, correcting and learning from mistakes along the way. Determined, optimistic and persistent, a professional delivers high-quality work in a timely manner and earns the reputation of a highly valuable contact.
The first step to becoming a professional is to make the commitment to be a professional wherever you are. Take advantage of every opportunity and commit to learning something new every day. Develop your own style and look, keeping in mind dress standards in your industry. Build your confidence by learning all you can about your job, your industry and the market you serve. Invest in yourself and your skills. Even if you change jobs, your confidence and skills will carry you to a successful outcome.
Difficult People - Sometimes the Answer is to Leave |
|
Difficult people turn up in everyone’s life from time to time. They show up as co-workers, bosses, friends and relatives. We all know when difficult situations are left unaddressed, it won’t get better. In fact, it usually gets worse. You simmer and stew until the situation erupts into counterproductive conflict, which could lead to others thinking of YOU as a difficult person.
But what happens when you’ve been to the classes, practiced the techniques and addressed the situation? What do you do if nothing changes? Sometimes the answer is to get out of the situation completely. If you are dealing with a boss or co-worker, this may be complicated. After all, this is your livelihood. You can’t just quit. When co-workers, bosses or a negative office environment make going to the office something you dread, then it is time to seriously think about a change.
You may not be able to deal with this current situation to your satisfaction, but you can control what happens next. Without becoming a part of the problem by causing a scene or publicly displaying your anger, quietly begin researching your options. Update your resume, research the industry to see what might be available, get your references together and make sure you update your network of contacts. Explore your possibilities. Meanwhile, be the best possible employee you can be in your current position. Planning ahead will help you leave the situation gracefully and on your own terms without burning any bridges.
Customer Service – Finding the Second Solution |
|
Do you deal with the same complaints from customers over and over again? Have you gotten the same complaint so often that you have developed a specific protocol for dealing with the issue? If so, you may want to ask yourself why this is a recurring problem and how you can resolve this underlying issue.
Most problems have at least two solutions. The immediate solution is the one that resolves the customer’s issue quickly and efficiently, keeping them happy with you and your product. Whether you repair, replace or refund, your first concern should be to satisfy the customers’ need. The second solution, however, is the one that will save your company money in the long run. Finding the defect in the product, the gap in your service or the salesman that over promised and under delivered can ultimately decrease the number of complaint calls and the amount of time that you and others on your staff spend dealing with customer complaints.
There is an additional benefit to finding the second solution. If you consistently fix the cause of your most common problems, they eventually go away. When you effectively serve the customers, you also improve your quality. Better quality control, means a consistently better product and greater customer satisfaction. And that, of course, contributes to a better bottom line.
Mind Workout: Guided Visualization |
|
What It Is
An effective method for tapping into thinking processes to gain access to experiences, images, ideas, facts and knowledge that are stored in the brain. Very often this knowledge is difficult to access in a conscious state of mind. Visualization can cultivate relaxation in order to allow this stored information to flow into one’s awareness.
How it Works
Choose something to visualize about. It may be a statement of a problem, a work situation, an opportunity for improvement or a process. Create mental pictures of the problem you are trying to solve.
Questions you can ask to stimulate thinking could include the following:
- What change would you like to have?
- What does it look like?
- Who would do what best?
- How would you illustrate or describe a perfect situation?
- Where would the solution come from?
- What could you improve?
Ask your team members to close their eyes and relax by having them imagine themselves in a favorite place. Ask them to let their minds wander and be open and alert to any images or words that come to mind. Allow at least five minutes.
Have them record any ideas that surface even if they are incomplete. Discuss all ideas to see if they produce any other thoughts.
Select the ideas that the team believes to have the most potential for further exploration. If necessary, the team can come back to any of these ideas at a later date.
Option
Ask your participants to stand and to spread out far enough so that when their arms are extended they will touch no one.
Tell them to raise their right arms in front of them and turn their bodies at the waist with their right arms still extended and to go as far around as they can. Have them mark the degree of rotation by finding a fixed point on the wall.
Now ask them to bring their arms back down to their sides. Then ask them to close their eyes and, without physically moving, visualize repeating the exercise in their minds to the point they marked, then to go three inches beyond the first point and find a second point. Finally have them visualize another three inches to a third point.
Now ask them to open their eyes. Guide them through the rotation exercise again. Nearly everyone will go farther than they did the first time.
Have them discuss the power of visualization, the importance of expectations, the effectiveness of focus and the value of goals.
