Thank You ConceptSo often lately, I’ve seen people forget to use the magical phrases….the ones that get you what you want, get people to do what you want, and  make what you want to happen, actually happen.

The first of these phrases is “Please.”  From the time we were children we were told to say “please.”  Regardless the size of the request, “please” signals respect.  This word encourages cooperation. The second magic phrase, “Thank you” takes so little effort and is so appreciated.  Thank you for opening the door for me.  Thank you for staying late at work.  Thank you to the waiter or waitress who servers your food.  Thank you (to your spouse, parent, or child) for loving me.  People so like to be appreciated and it takes very little effort on our part just to say, “Thank you.”

I learned the third magic phrase when I lived in South Africa.  It is “Pleasure.”  When someone says, “Thank you” and you respond with “Pleasure,” it tells the person that you heard their gratitude and you want to assure him or her that you not only heard their gratitude, it was your pleasure to do it.

These three magic phrases will enhance your communication skills, and improve your personal and professional relationships.  If you don’t use them already, get busy.  You’ll be amazed at the magic they hold.
